Tea History
Whether it is the legend of Kaldi tending goats and watching them discover the berries of the coffee tree, or a Chinese emperor sitting under a tree sipping hot water, when legend says that a leaf from a bush fell into his water it was then the Chinese Emperor Shen Nung discovered the joy of tea drinking. Legend continues to say that this took place around the year 2737 BC. At that time tea leaves were dried, powdered and stirred into hot water. They were also made into cakes and added to boiled rice with spices and nuts. It wasn’t until the Ming Dynasty 1368 to 1644 A.D. that tea leaves were brewed as an infusion, as we know it today.
